Ferdinand – 5 years old, 60 pounds, San Jose
Ferdinand is a 4-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier and about 30% head with a face that just begs to be squished and cuddled. However, Ferdinand’s current guardian has had several major life changes and is unable to give him the cuddles and attention that he needs to be happy and healthy anymore.
Ferdinand is up-to-date on all of his vaccinations and is in great health. He does require a prescription diet to mitigate allergies, but there are several brands that meet the requirement and he’s not a picky eater.
Recently, Ferdinand has completed basic training and is very good at loose leash walking and heeling. He can sit and stay on command and has (mostly) learned “leave it.” He is very loyal but occasionally still unsure about strangers in the home. However, once he warms up, he’s all about the snuggles and is convinced he’s a 60-pound lap dog.
Ferdinand’s challenge is that he needs supervision when playing with toys to make sure that he doesn’t get too excited and swallow them.
